Stay on Target...
July 24 2005
Wow. I'm sorry. One comic every three weeks is the inverse of the schedule
I wanted to keep. Man.
Things have been rather busy for me, really. I swear.
First, I got a job! Can you believe it? So I'm a working man, now. While working
definitely has its downsides, it's hard to argue with getting a paycheck. I guess I'll have
to postpone that life as a hobo I'd been dreaming of.
Added to that I've been feeling poorly about the comic. I want the comic to be something
that I don't yet have the skills to make it, and I'm not very patient with myself. But I can't
get better if I don't work at it, so I'm back, and I'm still in business.
The comic schedule is going to change for the short term, I'm going to a once-a-week release.
I still haven't adjusted to working a fourty-hour week, and I'm still too slow at getting any
one comic out. I have no idea how other artists hold to five days a week while holding down
a real job. I don't have that skill, yet. I'm also working on a side project,
and that's going to eat up some time through sometime in August, I guess.
In the meantime, I promise the Hydrosaur battle is nearly at an end, and then we can move on
to other things. And I'd recommend you subscribe to the Stickopolis RSS feed. That way you'l
be the first to know when a new comic is up. Check out the little blue RSS button above.
I'm feeling a bit bemused that I still haven't drawn a proper action sequence. I keep
removing myself from the action, presenting it from a distance. Gonna have to
work on that.
Thanks to everyone who harassed me about the update, and special thanks for your kind words
and constructive criticism. It's sometimes hard to hear how a particular strip just didn't
work, but I need to hear that. I've just purchased my very own copy of
Understanding Comics,
a book I highly recommend, which will help me think about what I'm doing.
