TEN! Ten comics! Fear the double-digits!
June 17, 2005
Oh my goodness, this comic just kicked my butt. It took forever to finish drawing it,
and then coloring took over eight hours! Sometimes I think Stickopolis should be black and white,
the thing would be a lot easier to put out. Except that I like it in color. So I'm stuck.
Part of my difficulty with this comic is that the joke is contained pretty much in the first
panel. There's no real punchline, I just try to keep the absurdity going. I'm really pleased
with the lightning effect this time. It was simple to do, and I think it looks pretty
good. There may be more lightning in the future. I don't really think lightning arcs quite
the same way in water as it does in air, but I'm not giving up my lightning!
I'm more ambivalent about the inking experiment. The pen line is shaky, and it gives everything
a sort of Charlie Brown look. It would look better if I was more confident with my ink line,
but I stress out over the fact it's non-erasable.
Ten comics. If I could maintain a three-a-week schedule, I'd be up to triple digits by February.
I'm not holding my breath.
